Thandel తండేల్ (2025) — তেলুগু রোমান্স

"Thandel" is a 2025 Indian Telugu-language romantic action thriller directed by Chandoo Mondeti, featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in leading roles. The film is inspired by a real-life incident from 2018, where a fisherman from Srikakulam was captured by Pakistani forces in international waters. Produced by Bunny Vasu under the banner of Geetha Arts, "Thandel" was released on February 7, 2025, to mixed reviews. The narrative centers on Raju (Naga Chaitanya), a fisherman from Srikakulam, and his fiancée Satya (Sai Pallavi). During a routine fishing expedition, Raju's boat inadvertently drifts into Pakistani waters, leading to his capture by Pakistani forces. The film delves into Satya's relentless efforts to secure Raju's release, intertwining themes of love, patriotism, and the challenges posed by international borders. Critics have noted that while the film boasts strong performances from the lead actors and a compelling soundtrack by Devi Sri Prasad, the screenplay's pacing and narrative structure received criticism. Set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan border, "Thandel" explores the complexities of love and identity amidst geopolitical tensions. The film's portrayal of a fisherman's plight and his fiancée's determination resonates with audiences familiar with regional conflicts. Upon its release, "Thandel" grossed over ₹100 crore worldwide, marking it as one of the top-grossing Telugu films of 2025. The film's exploration of love tested by borders and politics draws parallels to earlier works like "Roja," though some critics felt it lacked the emotional depth of its predecessor.
