In 1920, a young architect and his wife move into a secluded mansion to renovate it into a luxury hotel, unaware of the dark forces that haunt its halls. Arjun Singh Rathod, a devotee of Bhagwan Shri Hanuman, marries Lisa, a Christian woman of mixed heritage, defying his family's expectations. The couple relocates to Palanpur, where Arjun is commissioned to transform the mansion into a hotel. Shortly after their arrival, Lisa begins to sense something ominous about a particular room in the mansion, but Arjun dismisses her concerns. As the story unfolds, Lisa becomes possessed by a demonic entity, leading Arjun to seek help from a local priest, Father Thomas, to save his wife. Directed by Vikram Bhatt, 1920 is a supernatural horror film that delves into themes of love, defiance, and the battle between good and evil. The film's tone is eerie and suspenseful, with a focus on the psychological and supernatural elements that challenge the characters' beliefs and relationships. The film was a commercial success, grossing ₹2.9 crore in its first week and ₹4.5 crore in its second week. It has since spawned sequels, including 1920: Evil Returns (2012), 1920 London (2016), and 1921 (2018).
