Bidai Byomkesh বিদায় ব্যোমকেশ (2018) — Bangla Action

In "Bidai Byomkesh," the renowned Bengali detective Byomkesh Bakshi, portrayed by Abir Chatterjee, faces the twilight of his career. After a two-year self-imposed exile, his son, Abhimanyu Bakshi (Joy Sengupta), surrenders to the police, confessing to a murder. His son, Satyaki Bakshi (also played by Chatterjee), initially accepts the confession but, guided by his grandfather's wisdom, embarks on a quest to uncover the truth, leading him into a web of conspiracy. The film delves into themes of legacy, truth, and familial bonds, set against the backdrop of Kolkata's urban landscape. Director Debaloy Bhattacharya crafts a narrative that intertwines personal dilemmas with the pursuit of justice, characteristic of the detective genre. The tone is contemplative, with moments of suspense, as Satyaki confronts moral ambiguities and the weight of his family's past. Released in 2018, "Bidai Byomkesh" received a mixed reception. While some appreciated the performances, particularly Chatterjee's dual role, others felt the writing was inconsistent, with critiques highlighting a lack of coherence in the latter half of the film. The film appeals to audiences familiar with the Byomkesh series, offering a nuanced exploration of its titular character's legacy.
