Demon City Demon City 鬼ゴロシ (2025) — Japanese Action

In the 2025 Japanese film *Demon City*, directed by Seiji Tanaka, former hitman Shuhei Sakata (Toma Ikuta) awakens from a coma to find his wife and daughter murdered by masked assailants. Framed for their deaths, he embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance against the gang that controls Shinjo City. The film delves into themes of revenge, identity, and the supernatural, blending action, crime, fantasy, and thriller elements. Tanaka's direction emphasizes visceral combat and stylized violence, though some critics note a lack of emotional depth. The narrative is adapted from Masamichi Kawabe's manga series *Oni Goroshi*, introducing a mythological dimension with the "demon" motif. Released on Netflix in February 2025, *Demon City* received mixed reviews. While praised for its action sequences, some critics found it lacking in originality and depth. The film appeals to viewers interested in intense action and supernatural themes, particularly fans of Japanese adaptations of graphic novels.
