Ikkis इक्कीस (2026) — Hindi History

Ikkis is a poignant historical drama that centers on the life and sacrifice of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India's youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. Set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan War, the film chronicles Khetarpal's heroic defense of his battalion during the Battle of Basantar, where he ultimately gave his life for his country. The narrative unfolds not only through the lens of Khetarpal's bravery but also through the reflective journey of his father, who returns to their ancestral home in Sargodha, now situated in post-partition Pakistan, three decades later. The central conflict of Ikkis delves into the duality of valor and the stark realities of war, exploring themes of sacrifice, loss, and the haunting futility that accompanies armed conflict. Director Sriram Raghavan crafts a narrative that captures both the heroism of Khetarpal and the emotional turmoil of his father, who grapples with the legacy of his son's bravery against the backdrop of a divided homeland. The film juxtaposes moments of valor with reflective sequences that question the cost of war, making it not just a tribute to a soldier but also a meditation on the lasting impacts of conflict. Hailing from India, Ikkis sheds light on a significant chapter in the country's military history while addressing universal themes of familial bonds and the scars left by war. The film resonates deeply with audiences familiar with the history of the India-Pakistan conflict, offering both a personal and national perspective on themes of courage and sacrifice. Released in 2026, Ikkis serves as a reminder of the human cost of conflict and the enduring legacy of those who serve, encapsulating the complexities of identity and memory in a post-partition world.
