Raaz Reboot राज़: रीबूट (2016) — Hindi Horror

In the 2016 Indian horror film *Raaz Reboot*, directed by Vikram Bhatt, newlyweds Rehaan and Shaina Khanna relocate to Romania after Rehaan accepts a venture capitalist position. Their return to Romania, a place with personal significance, sets the stage for unsettling events. Shaina begins to experience disturbing paranormal occurrences in their new home, leading her to suspect that Rehaan is concealing a dark secret from their past. The central conflict revolves around Shaina's struggle against a malevolent spirit that appears to be linked to Rehaan's undisclosed history. As the haunting intensifies, Shaina's mental state deteriorates, prompting Rehaan to seek help from Trilok Shastri, a blind Indian student studying psychometry in Romania. Trilok's investigation reveals that the spirit tormenting Shaina is that of Aditya Shrivastava, Rehaan's former friend, who died under mysterious circumstances. The film delves into themes of guilt, betrayal, and the consequences of past actions, set against a backdrop of suspense and supernatural horror. Upon its release, *Raaz Reboot* received mixed reviews. Critics noted its reliance on familiar horror tropes and found the plot to be clichéd and overly dramatic. However, Emraan Hashmi's performance as Aditya was highlighted as a standout, with some viewers appreciating his portrayal of the antagonist. The film's setting in Romania, particularly the use of the Hoia-Baciu Forest, known for its mysterious and eerie reputation, added to the atmospheric tension. Despite its shortcomings, *Raaz Reboot* contributes to the Indian horror genre by exploring the psychological and supernatural elements of fear and retribution.
