In the 2024 Bengali action-crime drama *Sentimentaaal*, directed by Baba Yadav, Inspector Suryaa Roy (Yash Daasguptaa) is transferred from Kolkata to the town of Raghunathpur. Upon arrival, he confronts Rudrani Chowdhury (Sayantani Ghosh), a local politician deeply involved in various illegal enterprises. The central conflict revolves around Suryaa's battle against Rudrani's criminal activities, highlighting themes of justice, corruption, and moral integrity. The film's tone is a blend of action and drama, aiming to deliver a compelling narrative. However, critics have noted that the execution falls short, with the plot being predictable and the performances lacking depth. The film's reliance on overused tropes and formulaic storytelling has been a point of contention among reviewers. *Sentimentaaal* was released on January 19, 2024, in India. Despite its star-studded cast and ambitious premise, the film received a lukewarm reception, with an IMDb rating of 4.7 out of 10. The film's portrayal of a femme fatale character, Rudrani Chowdhury, adds a layer of complexity to the narrative. However, the film's inability to effectively develop its characters and storyline has led to its classification as a missed opportunity in the action-crime genre.
